Small bedroom layout: measure the bed, storage and usable space
A bed fitting inside the room is only the first check. Use full furniture dimensions, compare two arrangements and test access to storage before committing.
Measure the frame and the room separately
Start with room length, width, ceiling height and the position of each opening. Then measure the outside of the bed frame, bedside tables and wardrobe. A mattress label does not include a projecting headboard, footboard or frame.

A footprint is not the same as usable space
A 10 × 12 ft room has 120 sq ft of floor. A measured 5 × 7 ft bed occupies 35 sq ft, leaving 85 sq ft outside its footprint. That number does not show whether the remaining space connects into a useful route or fits a wardrobe.
Test storage in its open position
The planner checks simplified furniture footprints, room boundaries and a basic door approach zone. It does not simulate an opening wardrobe door, a drawer, a reclining mechanism or your movement through the room.
Measure the projection of an open drawer and mark it on your physical sketch or floor with removable tape. Try the normal sequence: enter the room, reach the bed, open storage and carry something out. If a route only works when furniture is pushed aside, revise the layout.
Compare two bed positions without changing everything
Use Compare A / B to save the first arrangement. Move the same bed to another wall, keeping its dimensions and the other furniture sizes unchanged. This makes the comparison about layout instead of accidentally comparing different products.
- Check access from the doorway to the bed and storage.
- Compare the effect on windows, curtains and existing outlets.
- Try smaller bedside tables or fewer pieces when the main furniture fits poorly.
- Mark existing furniture as already owned and enter prices for new purchases.
Use the 3D view to inspect, then verify on site
Switch to 3D to inspect the same arrangement from different angles. Export an image of each option so you can discuss the decision with someone else. The render shows generic furniture and illustrative colors.
